1st Semester

First semester was a joy! I have to admit that two weeks of summer devoted to a master's program did not seem like the most exciting items on the calendar this summer. However, I am so excited that I joined the community. I have gained several new ideas from the diverse group of people that are here. It is really nice that so many school districts, disciplines, and grade levels can come together and share their best practices, ideas, and frustrations. I am energized to start the upcoming school year. I am looking forward to my capstone project that will be implemented immediately in my classroom. I am thrilled!

Semester 1

This first semester has been very enjoyable for me. It is refreshing to be a part of a graduate program where I can actually use what I am learning in my classroom. I feel rejuvinated to go back into the classroom and utilize these strategies. I have also enjoyed getting to know 20+ other professionals that are also working towards a common goal with me. We are all so different, but yet work so well together. It is great to be surrounded by people that are as passionate as me about teaching and learning. Ihope everyone has a great start to the school year!

Thank you!

First Semester

When I first applied to Fielding I was hesitant because of the rigorous and frustrating application process. After I made it through that, I was still nervous to start a Master's program that you always hear is unbelievably grueling and is going to take up all of your time. The first semester has completely put my mind at ease. The people alone have made the class worth it all. Barney and Dave are very understanding and educated people and the other teachers in class have so much to share and offer. It has been really great with all of us sharing our ideas and not being those teachers that covet everything they do. I have learned SO much in these 2 weeks that I can use in my classroom. I am really glad that this has been closer to the start of the school year because I am really energized and excited to use these ideas in class. I think it has really helped me to be renewed and not dread coming up with new ideas for my classroom. I have found many books that I really want to read and have even gone to the library to start reading. I am really excited about reading the Homework book by Alfie Kohn since our building has been toying with homework issues and how much and how often. I have truly enjoyed the program so far and can't wait to start our next semester to see what we all will have to share when we come back from starting the new school year.
Welcome to our Learning Community blog site...we will use this for a variety of reasons ...for now please post a brief reflection of your first semester by August 20th and after that check it for more instructions...thanks and have fun blogging...
